Upcoming Events For all classes & workshops: Registration Contract Ceile Dance Nights!!! Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 pm: Mar 24, Apr 28, May 26. Learn traditional Irish group dances (ceiles) in a fun, informal setting. Cost $13, ages 14 & up. Pre-registration strongly recommended; to pre-register, mail in a completed registration form and class fee to Flying Irish, PO Box 351, Ashby, MA 01431. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and clean shoes (either dance slippers or clean sneakers). Little Leprechauns!!! Mondays, 4:30-5:00 pm: April 5 - May 24 (no class on April 19th), $70. Ages 4 - 6. Learn the basic movements of Irish Dance and beginning steps at an age-appropriate tempo. Use Irish Dance and creative movement to learn a performance routine. Class attire is any solid colored leotard (no attachments), nude tights or poodle socks, black leather ballet slippers for girls and dark shorts, plain white tee-shirt, white socks and black leather ballet slippers for boys. Pre-register by March 26th by mailing in a completed registration form and the class fee to Flying Irish, PO Box 351, Ashby, MA 01431. [Students who participated in the fall 2009 LL program do not need to fill out another registration form and can register by mailing in a check for $55.] Irish Dance Drama Summer Camp!!! August 9-13, 2010, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. The dance drama is a traditional Irish Dance form used to tell a story, similar to a ballet. Camp participants will also take workshops in Irish Dance technique, learn traditional group dances, known as ceiles, and work as a group to create the dance drama. The last day of class will end with a presentation of the dance drama. Free tee-shirt to each camp participant! Sample Schedule9:30-10:00 am arrival & warm-ups (no arrivals before 9:15 am) Cost is $215 per person, with a 5% discount for the 2nd child in a family. Open to ages 8 - 16. Registration is going on now!!! (Refunds, minus 25% of the fee, will be given until July 1st, after which time there will be no refunds.) Class attire: black shorts, white or green tee-shirt, poodle or white socks, gillies, jig shoes or black leather ballet slippers or black jazz shoes. Campers must bring their own snacks and lunches each day, plus plenty of water. (The Flying Irish Studio is not a nut-free facility.) Camp will be taught by Mary-Sarah O'Hanlon with the assistance of senior dancer Jessica T. Summer Classes July 6, 13, 20 and August 3, 17 and 24. Beginner I & II and novice 5:30 - 7:00 pm, advanced (danced group hornpipe or 64 in the recital) 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Cost is $15 per class (registration fee of $15 to be paid by all new students) by June 1st; $18 per class June 2nd-June 30th. (Summer tuition payments are non-refundable.)
