Mary-Sarah O'Hanlon, Artistic Director Mary-Sarah O’Hanlon has over 20 years of experience teaching Irish Dance, circus, gymnastics, ballet and yoga. Mary-Sarah starting dancing at the age of 4. She was a regionally ranked open champion competitive Irish Dancer with the world-famous Smith-Houlihan Academy and was a member of their regional and national award-winning teams. She earned the T.M.R.F. certification through An Comisiun in Ireland in 1990. She was awarded the CCT, CPT and MIDT 3, CPIDA and SIDA3 (certified teacher and adjudicator in ceile, performance and solo dancing from beginner through champion levels) from the North American Irish Dance Federation in 2011. After receiving a B. A. from Boston University (in Anthropology & English Literature), she spent a summer meditating at an ashram in India. This proved to be an invaluable experience when she later became a 500-hour Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT). Mary-Sarah "ran away with the circus", Zippo's Circus in London, where she earned a Variety Entertainment certification from The Royal Society of the Arts and performed 30 feet in the air (no net!) on the static trapeze and as a Ringmistress and fire-eater. Mary-Sarah founded the Flying Irish Studio as a place to combine her unique educational, competitive, and performance experience with a love for encouraging people to perform at their personal best. In 2000, she founded the Flying Irish Dance Troupe to provide myriad performance opportunities for exceptionally talented and dedicated students. Mary-Sarah has developed, staged, and choreographed many public performances and extravaganzas for professional companies as well as her own dancers. Mary-Sarah is available to teach workshops in Irish Dance and yoga for dancers or non-dancers, judging feisanna and to choreograph your production. Email for more information. |
